Excel and Word automation

If someone on your team copies data from one file to another every day, builds reports by hand or fills in identical documents, that can be automated. I write VBA macros and Python scripts that do this work in minutes and without mistakes.

For
accounting, sales, logistics, office teams
Works with
Excel, Word, CSV, websites and APIs
Under the hood
VBA, Python, PowerShell

When it’s worth automating

The same action repeats every day or every week and takes hours.

A mistake in manual copying costs money or time spent on checking.

Data has to be collected from many files, folders or a website.

What can be done

  • VBA macros: a button in Excel that does the routine for you.
  • Consolidating reports from many files into one.
  • Filling Word documents from a template using a spreadsheet.
  • Collecting data from websites into a spreadsheet or documents.
  • Cleaning and checking data: duplicates, formats, errors.
  • Fixing formulas that have gone off and switching to more reliable ones.

How it works

  • A macro lives right in your file: open it, press the button, done.
  • For large volumes and work with websites — Python. It runs separately from Excel and easily handles thousands of files.
  • The script keeps a report: what was processed, where errors were, what’s worth checking by hand.
  • Originals stay untouched: results are written to new files.

Examples from my projects

How the work goes

  1. 01
    Brief

We dig into the task and agree on what counts as “done”.

  2. 02
    Prototype

I show a mockup or a demo on a test bench before the main code.

  3. 03
    Build

In small stages. A backup before every change, a rollback for each.

  4. 04
    Testing

First on a copy of your environment, then on the live one.

  5. 05
    Handover

A guide, I explain how to use it, and I stay in touch.

Questions

Does anything need to be installed?

For a VBA macro, nothing but Excel. For a Python script, I’ll install and set everything up myself.

Will it work with old versions of Office?

Yes. In the “Catalogue parser” case the results were written to old Word 97–2003 .doc files, as the client required.

What about Google Sheets?

Yes, I also do formulas and automation in Google Sheets.

How much does it cost and how long will it take?

It depends on the task. After the brief I give you the scope, timeline and price. Before the main build I show a prototype or a plan, so you can see what you will get.
